The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued security advisory, cautioning American citizens to avoid non-essential travel to government buildings and military installations within Abuja.
The alert, released on Monday, comes amid increased global security concerns.
Though no specific threat was identified, the U.S. Mission advised its nationals to exercise extra caution, particularly in and around the Federal Capital Territory.
“The U.S. Embassy continues to monitor the situation closely and advises American citizens to refrain from unnecessary visits to government and military facilities in Abuja until further notice,” the statement read.
U.S. nationals were also urged to remain vigilant, reassess their travel plans, and stay informed through local media and updates from Nigerian authorities.
The Mission further encouraged its citizens to adhere to existing travel restrictions and register with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to ensure they receive timely updates and access to emergency services if needed.
