The United States has issued warning to Nigerians stating that anyone caught engaging in visa fraud could face a permanent ban from entering the country.
The advisory was shared on Monday via the official X account of the US Mission in Nigeria. It highlights a renewed focus by American agencies to tackle immigration fraud and enforce stricter border control measures.
The message made it clear that individuals involved in submitting false information during visa applications or assisting others to enter or remain in the US illegally would face serious consequences including possible criminal charges.
Reiterating the importance of secure borders, the mission urged Nigerian visa applicants to remain honest throughout the process and comply fully with legal requirements.
The announcement was part of the US campaign branded with hashtags such as #VisaWiseTravelSmart and #USVisa encouraging applicants to follow legitimate procedures.
The post stated “Those who commit visa fraud will be banned from the United States for life. A nation without borders is not a nation. We will pursue criminal charges against those who engage in visa fraud and those who bring in and harbor illegal aliens.”
