The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has lauded Captain Adebanke Osilaja, who has made history as the first licensed female pilot of Nigerian descent to fly with any of the United States’ legacy airlines.
In a statement issued on Friday, the NIDCOM Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described Osilaja’s feat as a significant breakthrough for Nigerians at home and abroad.
The commission said the achievement further highlights the growing impact of Nigerians excelling in specialised global industries.
The announcement, signed by the Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, was shared on the commission’s X handle.
“Osilaja’s success is a powerful inspiration to young Nigerians everywhere, especially girls aspiring for careers in the aviation industry and other male-dominated fields,” the release stated.
