U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a Nigerian national, Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba, on allegations linking him to armed robbery and drug trafficking, the agency said on Monday.
Ijaoba who ICE says is in the United States illegally, was taken into custody after federal authorities moved on the case, “has a final removal order and awaits deportation in ICE custody”.
The agency described Ijaoba as a former member of the notorious Bloods street gang and said his criminal record in the U.S. runs deep.
“Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba is a criminal illegal alien from Nigeria and former member of the Bloods a notoriously violent street gang,” ICE added.
According to ICE, the suspect accumulated multiple convictions, including aggravated assault on a police officer with a firearm, assault and aggravated assault, armed robbery, obstruction, drug sales and escaping police custody.
Authorities said he will face deportation proceedings following the conclusion of required legal and administrative steps.
Further details about the arrests and ongoing investigations were not immediately released.
