JUST IN: Nigerian gets top British honour from King Charles III

Mrs Olusola (Shola) Alabi, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has been appointed a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III for her contributions to education.

 

According to a social media post, the appointment appears in the Civil Division of the Order of the British Empire Gazette published on December 29, 2025, where Alabi is listed as “Olusola Oluronke Anike ALABI, Director, Exam Success Education Centre.”

 

Alabi, who read biochemistry at FUTA and graduated in 1993, is the education director and co-owner of Exam Success Education Ltd.

 

“A British-trained teacher with a BSc and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), she has spent more than two decades in private tuition and educational leadership.

 

“Her career profile includes classroom teaching and middle-leadership roles in inner-London and Thurrock schools, where she earned strong evaluations from the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted).

 

“She has also run teacher training programmes in partnership with the University of East London and serves informally as a mentor to teachers.

 

“An active member of the tutoring sector, Alabi has held leadership roles with professional bodies, including a past chairmanship of the Association of Professional Tutoring Centres (APTC) in the UK and membership of the Tutor Association (TTA).

 

“She is a best-selling author, a regular speaker at parent conferences and workshops, and the creator of educational resources aimed at supporting pupils, parents and educators.

 

“Alabi’s work which spans classroom instruction, private tuition, teacher development and parental engagement has attracted media attention in outlets such as the Daily Mail, The Voice, the Thurrock Gazette and The Mercury.

 

Commenting on her award in earlier interviews, Alabi has emphasised her commitment to helping young people build confidence and achieve academic goals.
