Five diaspora veterans inducted into Nigerian Books of Record Hall of Fame

The Nigerian Books of Record has honoured five distinguished Nigerians living abroad with induction into its Hall of Fame, in a ceremony held at the palace of the Abepa of Joga Orile in Yewa North Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The event celebrated the achievements of Chief Mrs Moronke Faloyin Badejo, Otunba Abiodun Badejo, Chief Taiwo Alli, Chief Kehinde Alli and Chief Mrs Omolola Alli for their long standing service to community, culture and national development while living overseas.

The ceremony, which featured a special performance by music legend King Sunny Ade, drew traditional rulers, national figures and members of the diaspora. Among those in attendance were former President Olusegun Obasanjo, business leader Princess Dr Toyin Kolade, traditional rulers Oba Rotimi Mulero and Oba Dr Olayinka Salako, and veteran actress Faustina Balogun known as Madam Saje.

Each inductee carried a record of public service and philanthropy across continents. Chief Mrs Faloyin Badejo, based in the United States, holds several female chieftaincy titles including Iya Oba of Joga Orile and other honours in Egbaland and Ibogunland. Otunba Abiodun Badejo, also resident in the United States, is noted for his work promoting ethics and values among diaspora communities.

Chief Taiwo Alli, a United Kingdom based entrepreneur and traditional title holder in the Owu Kingdom, and his twin Chief Kehinde Alli, resident in the United States, were recognised for their leadership and contributions to their home communities. Chief Mrs Omolola Alli, a US based healthcare executive and psychiatric nursing specialist, was honoured for her professional achievements and philanthropic efforts.

Following the reading of detailed citations, each recipient was formally admitted as a member and fellow of the Nigerian Books of Record and their names were enshrined in the Hall of Fame.

Professor David Obongekong David, director general of the Nigerian Books of Record, said the inductions aim to document and celebrate Nigerians who excel abroad while remaining committed to national values. He noted that the nation s story is increasingly written by citizens working across the world and that recognition helps preserve that legacy for posterity.

Organisers said the event underscored the enduring link between ancestral responsibilities and global citizenship, and highlighted how diaspora leadership continues to strengthen Nigeria s cultural and institutional profile internationally.

Guests described the ceremony as a fitting tribute to those who have used their professional platforms to advance Nigeria s interests and support local development. Community leaders called on more diaspora Nigerians to sustain ties with their home communities through investment, mentorship and cultural exchange.

The induction at the Abepa palace strengthens the role of the Nigerian Books of Record as a custodian of national excellence and a forum for celebrating achievements that cross borders while remaining rooted in local heritage.
