Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as Oluomo of Derby, has commended two members of the Nigerian community in the United Kingdom for their efforts in supporting homeless compatriots living abroad.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) and sighted by Diaspora NG, Kuti expressed appreciation for @DatMbaiseMan and @Engreboi, highlighting their intervention in the case of a man who had been sleeping on buses for more than two weeks.
“Many immigrants are not entitled to public funds, which means they often cannot access official support. No one should have to sleep outside in this kind of weather,” Kuti wrote, noting that several homeless people have lost their lives while living on the streets.
He urged the community to recognise and celebrate those who go out of their way to help others.
“We must continue to support each other and lift up those who are helping. Their actions save lives, and our community is stronger because of them,” Kuti added.
Earlier, another social media user, Ourfavdoc, had drawn attention to the dire conditions faced by Africans living in the UK.
He reported that some migrants were resorting to sleeping in dustbins just to survive, describing the situation as “sad and worrying.”
