US to deport 79 Nigerians on criminal list

The United States Department of Homeland Security has announced plans to deport no fewer than 79 Nigerians convicted of various criminal offences in the country.

Findings on the DHS website on Monday showed that the Nigerians were listed among foreign nationals classified as high-risk offenders due to crimes ranging from fraud and drug trafficking to robbery, assault and manslaughter.

The department said the affected individuals were arrested during a nationwide enforcement operation carried out by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as part of an intensified crackdown on criminal immigrants.
