British-Nigerian creative executive, Tolami Benson, has revealed that plans for her wedding to Arsenal and England forward Bukayo Saka have been put on hold until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Benson, 25, disclosed in an interview with British Vogue that the couple had decided to prioritise Saka’s preparations and participation in the global football tournament before setting a date for their marriage.
The couple, who have been together since 2020, got engaged in November 2025 after Saka reportedly proposed during a private ceremony at a luxury hotel in London.
Despite the high-profile engagement, Benson said she prefers a simple wedding and has even considered eloping instead of hosting a lavish celebrity ceremony.
Speaking on the delay, she said, “Let’s get the World Cup out of the way first,” noting that her immediate focus is supporting Saka throughout England’s campaign in the tournament scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Beyond her relationship with the Arsenal winger, Benson has built a strong reputation in the fashion industry, earning recognition for her distinctive match-day outfits and helping popularise the “sports chic” style during the Euro 2024 championship.
With more than 260,000 followers on Instagram, she has become a prominent figure among football fans, blending luxury fashion with vintage football-inspired designs.
Benson and Saka have also continued to embrace their Nigerian roots, regularly participating in cultural events. Earlier this year, Benson attracted attention after attending a traditional wedding in Lagos dressed in Yoruba attire, while the couple also made headlines with their appearance at Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard’s wedding in Norway.
The decision to postpone their wedding has drawn praise from fans, many of whom described it as a reflection of the couple’s commitment to balancing their personal lives with Saka’s football career as he targets success with England at the 2026 World Cup.
