The Federal Government has made it easier for Nigerians aged 18 and above to renew or apply for international passports while abroad, including in North America.
A senior official from the Ministry of Interior told THEWILL that the improvement is part of ongoing reforms led by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aimed at leveraging technology to eliminate delays and challenges in visa and passport services both in Nigeria and abroad.
”With the new system, applicants no longer need to visit embassies in person. Instead, they can download the NIS Mobile App from the Google Play Store on any smart device and follow the step-by-step instructions.
“Approved passports will be delivered directly to applicants via courier, ensuring fast and efficient service without unnecessary waiting.
“The app will also become available on the Apple App Store starting June 15, 2025.
“The government has warned the public against using unauthorized third-party agents, stressing that only applications through official channels are valid.
