FG rewards D’Tigress with OON, each player takes home $100,000, flat

The Federal Government has bestowed national honours and generous rewards on Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, in recognition of their historic triumph at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hosted the victorious team at the State House on Monday evening, days after they claimed their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title.

Each player was conferred with the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), alongside a cash reward of $100,000 and a flat.

In the final on Sunday, Nigeria edged out Mali 78-64 in a tense showdown, displaying resilience and composure to claim their seventh AfroBasket title.

Diaspora NG had reported that last week, the President conferred similar national honours and gifts on the Super Falcons for winning Nigeria’s 10th title of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
