Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians living abroad to deepen their commitment to the progress and development of the country by actively supporting efforts aimed at rebuilding the nation.
She made the appeal during a courtesy visit by Dr. Philip Ozuah, President and CEO of Montefiore Medicine and a renowned pediatrician and philanthropist, at the State House in Abuja.
Expressing pride in Dr. Ozuah’s accomplishments in the United States, the First Lady commended his contributions to his alma mater, the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, particularly in the field of education.
“We are proud of your achievements abroad, and even more proud that you’ve remembered home. Supporting education is a commendable place to start, and through the Renewed Hope Initiative, we are also making significant strides in that sector,” she stated.
Tinubu also urged other Nigerians in the diaspora to emulate such gestures by investing their knowledge, skills, and resources in initiatives that promote national growth and social development.
In his response, Dr. Ozuah praised the First Lady’s unwavering dedication to advocating for both domestic and international support for Nigeria.
He particularly lauded her efforts in maternal and child health, describing them as both inspiring and impactful.
He further expressed his desire to partner with the Renewed Hope Initiative to expand support for women and children across Nigeria.
