Graduate Research Clinic hosts global seminar, commemorates World Population Day

In response to growing global inequalities, environmental disruptions, and rapid urbanisation, the Graduate Research Clinic, is set to host a virtual seminar to commemorate the World Population Day 2025.

According to a statement made available by GRC, the event, themed “How Can We Ensure Collective Wellbeing in a Constantly Changing Planet?” will take place on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 4:00 PM (WAT) via Zoom.

By drawing together academics, policymakers, students, development professionals, and activists, the seminar aims to encourage collaborative thinking and co created solutions that respond meaningfully to the realities of diverse populations.

To be moderated by Dr. Dauda Abiodun Busari of the University of Ibadan, the seminar also aims to trigger critical conversations around how societies can better prioritise human wellbeing in a world marked by uncertainty and uneven development.

Participants will explore how demographic and environmental shifts are impacting vulnerable groups, including informal workers, women in precarious employment, persons with disabilities, and others whose voices are frequently absent from traditional research and planning processes.

“This event is not just about numbers, it is about visibility, voice, and dignity,” the organisers stated.

“Our goal is to foster people centred and equity driven approaches that prioritise justice and resilience over mere participation,” the statement reads.
