Four Nigerian nationals were arrested in India during separate anti-narcotics operations carried out between Thursday and late Saturday, police and local media reports said.
The suspects identified as 37-year-old Tanguy Nguessan, Touchi, Henry and IK Prince were detained in different parts of the country after coordinated raids by law-enforcement agencies.
The Tulinj Police Detection Team, working with the Anti-Terrorism Cell, arrested Nguessan during a swoop in the Pragati Nagar area of Nalasopara East, the Free Press Journal reported.
“Acting on the intelligence, police raided the locality and arrested a 37-year-old Nigerian national identified as Nguessan,” the news outlet reported.
Officers reportedly recovered 60 grams of cocaine on the suspect — a haul the report said has an international market value of about ₹12.6 million (roughly N205 million). Nguessan remains in custody as investigators probe his alleged network.
In Rajasthan, the Jaipur Police Commissionerate arrested two Nigerians, named as Touchi and Henry, over the trafficking of MD drugs. The suspects were picked up in separate operations in Faridabad, Haryana, and Delhi, following the arrest of three other traffickers in Jaipur’s Transport Nagar area with MD consignments valued at about ₹550,000.
Interrogation allegedly linked Touchi to the supply chain; he was arrested in Faridabad, and further enquiries led to Henry’s arrest in Delhi. Police said both men were living in India on expired visas and had been using forged documents to evade detection. Investigators also recovered a list of suspected dealers operating across Jaipur and neighbouring districts.
Separately, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force’s Agra unit arrested IK Prince described by authorities as a major trafficking kingpin — after weeks of surveillance. Prince was detained in Delhi’s Sadar Bazaar on Thursday and later remanded by a Mathura court.
Circle Officer Umesh Panwar told reporters that Prince was living in India without valid travel documents and was linked to a heroin supply line uncovered in October. “During interrogation, they revealed that they were supplying heroin to Prince, who was coordinating the operation,” Panwar said.
Authorities reported that about 1.8 kilograms of heroin, with an estimated value between ₹6 crore and ₹8 crore, were seized in connection with Prince. The police said they had notified the Nigerian Embassy and were working to dismantle the wider network tied to the arrests.
Meanwhile, the ANTF’s Gorakhpur unit arrested two local suspects, Chhedi Yadav and Arun Singh, and recovered 530 grams of heroin, a development officials say points to an expanding interstate trafficking ring.
The arrests come amid heightened scrutiny of Nigerians living abroad over alleged involvement in transnational crimes. Last month, more than 140 Nigerians were reportedly detained in Ghana in connection with online fraud and related offences.
