Nollywood actor and activist, Yomi Fabiyi, has said he is taking the campaign for justice for late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, to the United States, with a planned solo protest at the White House.
Fabiyi disclosed this in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a user identified as Oyindamola, where he announced that he was presenting a petition to President Donald Trump and the US Senate Foreign Affairs Committee.
According to the actor, he had already established correspondence with the President of the United States, whom he described as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, to draw attention to what he alleged were forces undermining justice in Mohbad’s case.
“We’re going to the White House to stage a solo protest in front of the White House after establishing a correspondence with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America to put in a word for justice on the ground,” Fabiyi said.
He alleged that certain syndicates were shielding those responsible for the singer’s death and disregarding directives meant to ensure accountability, adding that Mohbad’s case required stronger and global voices.
Fabiyi lamented that the late singer had remained in the morgue for three years, describing the situation as tragic. “Today is actually his third birthday in the mortuary. Third birthday in the mortuary since 2023. It’s quite sad. Nobody should go through that,” he said.
He further expressed frustration over what he described as the Nigerian government’s failure to deliver justice in the matter. “Nigerians cannot really move on with things like this. It’s disgusting. It doesn’t even make sense why the government would seek and then deny such a person justice,” Fabiyi added.
The actor said his action was driven by the belief that Mohbad’s case had gone beyond national boundaries and now required international intervention to achieve closure and justice.
