The remains of 27-year-old Nigerian nurse, Chima Miriam, who was found dead in her apartment in Leeds, United Kingdom, will be laid to rest on Sunday, June 23, 2025, in her hometown of Ndufu Echara, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
According to a poster obtained by Diaspora NG, Christian wake will be held in her honour on Saturday, June 22, at the family compound of late Chief Nwusolor Chima in Ndufu Echara.
Her body will depart from the mortuary in Onueke for final funeral rites the following day, with a service scheduled at her father’s residence.
It would be recalled that Miriam, a registered nurse in the UK, was discovered dead in her flat after she was declared missing.
Her mysterious death shocked the Nigerian and African nursing community.
According to Fellow Nurses Africa (FNA), a platform that supports African nurses globally, the late nurse had returned to the UK after a trip to Nigeria to prepare for her wedding, which was scheduled to take place on April 29, 2025.
She reportedly failed to show up for work, prompting friends to raise concern. A close friend who had repeatedly tried to reach her filed a missing person report.
The police later found her lifeless body in her apartment in Leeds.
FNA, in a statement, described Miriam as “a dedicated and professional nurse” whose death has left her colleagues and friends devastated. “Tuesday, April 29, was meant to be her special day – a day of joy, celebration, and new beginnings,” the group wrote.
“Instead, her sudden death has left colleagues and loved ones overwhelmed with unspeakable grief and unanswered questions.”
Authorities in the UK are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the deceased.
