NAHCON airlifts over 14,000 Nigerian pilgrims from Saudi Arabia

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has confirmed the successful airlift of more Nigerian pilgrims from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marking significant progress in the 2025 Hajj return operations.

In an update shared on the Commission’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday morning, the NAHCON Command and Control Centre in Makkah reported that hundreds of pilgrims from Sokoto State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) had departed the Kingdom.

According to the statement, a Flynas flight with the number XY9082 departed Jeddah at 7:51 a.m. local time, transporting 422 pilgrims from Sokoto alongside four officials.

This brings the total number of Nigerian pilgrims airlifted back home so far to 13,589 across 32 flights.

Another Flynas flight, designated XY9022, took off for Abuja at 10:33 a.m., carrying 425 FCT pilgrims and four accompanying officials. With this departure, the total number of returnees has reached 14,014 on 33 completed flights.

NAHCON reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating a smooth and well-organised Hajj operation, ensuring that every Nigerian pilgrim returns home safely and on schedule.

“Our dedication to ensuring a seamless Hajj airlift process remains firm,” the Command and Control Centre stated in the update, dated Saturday, June 15, 2025. “We continue to make steady progress in the return journey of pilgrims.”

The Commission noted that its operations team in Makkah is closely coordinating with airlines and other relevant stakeholders to maintain the safety and efficiency of the ongoing return flights.
