Napoli eye summer swoop for Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman

Italian giants Napoli are reportedly lining up a summer move for Nigerian international and reigning African Player of the Year, Ademola Lookman, as they prepare for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League campaign.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli are keen on the Atalanta winger, who has emerged as a top transfer target following an impressive season.

Lookman is being considered as a long-term replacement for Georgian star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who made a mid-season switch to Paris Saint-Germain.

Napoli have already made headlines in the transfer market by signing Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer after the Belgian midfielder ended a glittering spell at Manchester City.

With Antonio Conte now at the helm following a title-winning campaign, the club is expected to continue its ambitious rebuild with more high-profile signings.

Lookman, 27, played a pivotal role in Atalanta’s European success last season, notably scoring a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final. His standout performances have not gone unnoticed, with Napoli reportedly ready to offer €50 million to secure his services.

However, Atalanta are said to be holding out for over €60 million, aware of mounting interest from other top European clubs.

Sources close to the player suggested that Lookman is open to a move away from Bergamo, potentially smoothing the path for negotiations in the coming weeks.

While Napoli have also been linked with Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez and Bologna’s Dan Ndoye, Lookman remains their priority as Conte seeks to assemble a squad capable of defending the Scudetto and making a strong push in Europe.
