The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated the Nigerian Center on its recognition and accreditation by the United States Department of Justice.
The recognition was granted under the Executive Office for Immigration Review Recognition and Accreditation Programme, a framework that authorises qualified organisations and representatives to provide immigration legal services.
Dabiri-Erewa described the development as a testament to the centre’s consistency, credibility and commitment to serving immigrant communities across the United States.
She noted that the accreditation would enable the organisation to broaden its immigration support services, including offering guidance and representation to immigrants, particularly those from low-income and vulnerable backgrounds.
According to her, the milestone represents a proud moment for Nigerian-led diaspora institutions and underscores the positive impact Nigerians continue to make in their host countries.
The NiDCOM boss emphasised that access to reliable and culturally responsive legal assistance remains crucial for immigrants navigating complex documentation and residency processes. She added that the recognition by the U.S. justice authorities enhances the centre’s capacity to serve as a dependable support hub for Nigerians and other African immigrants.
Dabiri-Erewa also commended the Head of the Nigerian Center, Gbenga Ogunjimi, and his team for what she described as their dedication and professionalism.
She urged the organisation to maintain the standards that earned the accreditation and to continue delivering meaningful support to members of the diaspora community.
