NiDCOM hails Nigerian scientist named among world’s top 2%

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has congratulated Dr. Ayodeji Amobonye Emmanuel for being ranked among the top two per cent of scientists globally, in a list compiled by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier.

In a statement signed by NiDCOM’s Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Chairman/CEO of the Commission, Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, praised Amobonye for his groundbreaking contributions to Biotechnology and scientific research.

She described the recognition as proof of his academic brilliance and the growing influence of Nigerian scholars worldwide.

She urged him to “continue blazing the trail in scientific innovation and discovery,” while serving as an inspiration for young Nigerian scientists.

Dabiri-Erewa further commended him as “a beacon of excellence and a worthy ambassador of Nigeria in the global scientific community.”

Amobonye, who holds a PhD from the Durban University of Technology, South Africa, is currently a Research Fellow at the Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania.

The Stanford-Elsevier global ranking recognises leading scientists across 22 disciplines and 174 subfields, based on the impact of their publications.

Amobonye studied at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, and obtained his Master’s degree from the Federal University of Technology, Akure. He previously worked with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
