A Nigerian chef based in Canada, Zainab Oladipo, is set to make history as she attempts to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
The culinary event will take place from July 29 to August 12, 2025, at 326 Victoria Street, Kamloops, British Columbia.
On the course of 14 days, Oladipo planned to cook 15500 dishes representing the cuisines of 195 countries, dedicating a total of 300 continuous hours to the marathon.
In a statement issued by her management on Thursday, the effort was described not just as a record breaking attempt but as “a celebration of global culture, community, and the power of food to unite people.”
Driven by the motto “Feed, Inspire, Give Back,” Oladipo said her goal was to use the event to promote cultural exchange, serve the local community and inspire others through resilience, service, and representation.
“This is more than just cooking. It is a movement. I want to prove that a woman, an immigrant, a Black Canadian from right here in Kamloops can dream big and achieve something extraordinary.”
To support the initiative, Oladipo’s team has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the cost of ingredients, logistics and volunteer coordination.
Local residents and businesses have also been encouraged to offer support through donations, partnerships, and volunteer efforts.
“Zainab’s mission reflects the spirit of unity and determination that transcends borders. She is not just cooking meals, she is creating a legacy, one dish at a time,” the statement added.
