A Nigerian content creator in the UK has sparked outrage after filming himself eating pounded yam and soup with his bare hands on London Bridge.
The video, which shows him calmly moulding and consuming the traditional meal against the London skyline, was intended to showcase Nigerian culture.
Instead, many Nigerians in the diaspora condemned the act as unhygienic and inappropriate for a public space.
One X user, Sikowitz17, wrote, “Something you cannot do in Oshodi, you’ll bring here. It’s unhygienic, stupid, and doesn’t make any sense.”
The video quickly went viral, triggering debates on social media about cultural expression versus public etiquette.
Supporters argued that eating traditional dishes with hands is part of Nigerian heritage and should not be judged abroad.
