Nigerian reportedly deported after reporting lost wallet in Europe [Video]

A Nigerian man has allegedly been deported to Nigeria after reporting a lost wallet to the police in a European country, according to a viral video shared on X, formerly Twitter.

The video, posted by a user identified as Somto Okonkwo and sighted by Diaspora NG, shows a man narrating how the Nigerian picked up a wallet containing identification cards and about €4,500 from the ground.

According to the narration, the man took the wallet to a police station in what was described as an act of goodwill, informing officers that he found the item and did not know its owner.

The narrator said the police initially commended the Nigerian and began documenting the incident, but the situation reportedly changed when officials requested his identification documents.

He claimed the man had no valid residency papers and was immediately taken into custody after it was discovered that he was in the country illegally.

The video further alleged that the Nigerian was placed on a flight shortly after his arrest and deported to Nigeria the following day.

Reacting in the clip, the narrator described the incident as “sad,” warning undocumented migrants that good intentions might not protect them from immigration laws.
