Nigerian woman stranded in UK after alleged sudden change of passport intervention venue

A Nigerian woman who travelled with her four-month-old baby from Newcastle to Aberdeen for a passport intervention exercise has been left stranded after officials allegedly changed the venue without prior notice.

The incident was made public on Friday by an X user, identified as Onyedikachukwu, who criticised the handling of the exercise by the Nigeria High Commission in London.

In his post, he wrote: “Nigeria is such a useless country. A friend’s wife travelled from Newcastle to Aberdeen for the passport intervention with 4 months baby and is now stranded. She went to the venue published by @Nigerialondon, only to be told by someone there that the venue had been changed without any notice.”

According to him, the woman eventually located the new venue, but her hopes of being attended to were dashed when officials reportedly announced around 1 p.m. that they had closed for the day after attending to 300 applicants.

He said the development has left her distressed, as she is unsure whether the team will resume the following day, despite the biometrics exercise being scheduled for December 11 to 13 in Aberdeen.
