Members of the Nigerian community in South Africa have paid tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, acknowledging his lasting impact on the nation’s political landscape.
The Nigeria Union South Africa (NUSA), in a statement issued by its President-General, Mr. Smart I. Nwobi, on Wednesday, disclosed that a delegation from the union visited the Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg to sign the condolence register in honour of the late leader.
The delegation included NUSA’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Mr. Ekos Akpokabayen, and Mr. George Omagbemi Sylvester, who serves as Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President-General.
According to the statement, “The leadership of NUSA, led by Mr. Smart I. Nwobi, a legal practitioner, paid a condolence visit to the Nigerian Consulate in Johannesburg to express sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“While signing the condolence register, we extended our deep sympathies to the Nigerian government and citizens during this period of national loss.
“We remembered President Buhari as a prominent figure in the country’s political development. His contributions to national service and governance will not be forgotten.”
