NIMC completes upgrade of diaspora NIN enrolment platform

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has finalised the upgrade to its Diaspora enrolment platform, enhancing service efficiency, security, and user experience for Nigerians living abroad who are applying for their National Identification Number (NIN).

Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, explained that the revamped system provides seamless, robust and more secure platform for managing NIN enrolment outside Nigeria.

According to him, the upgrade was necessary to ensure Nigerians in the Diaspora receive the same high standard of service as those within the country.

“As part of the upgrade, our Diaspora Front-End Partners (FEPs) have been fully onboarded and have undergone intensive training to manage the new system effectively,” Adegoke stated.

The commission has mandated all FEPs to activate their NIN enrolment licenses on the new platform within 48 hours.

Acknowledging possible disruptions during the transition, the commission has established a dedicated support team to address any related issues.

“The commission regrets any inconvenience experienced by applicants and has set up a dedicated support team to address related issues,” he said.

“Diaspora applicants experiencing difficulties are encouraged to contact NIMC via its website for prompt assistance.”

Adegoke confirmed that enrolment activities continue uninterrupted at all NIMC centres across Nigeria despite the upgrade.

He urged Nigerians to locate the nearest enrolment centre or visit the commission’s website for guidance.

Additionally, residents and Nigerians abroad are encouraged to use the NIMC Self-Service Modification Portal to update their NIN records when necessary.

“NIN holders are also urged to download the NIMC NINAuth App on the iOS App Store or Google Play Store. The app allows users to verify their NIN instantly, manage who accesses their information, and enjoy secure authentication services.”

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to delivering reliable, user-friendly identity management services both within Nigeria and across the globe.
