The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Diaspora, has appointed Delta-born engineer, Akpojotor Abiola Onokurhefe, as its Youth Ambassador to the Republic of Gambia.
The appointment was announced by the NYCN Vice President, Diaspora, Amb. Collins Idahosa, who described Onokurhefe as an enterprising professional with the zeal and commitment to represent Nigerian youths on the global stage.
According to Idahosa, Onokurhefe will play a vital role in advancing Nigerian interests and fostering collaboration among Nigerian youths in Gambia, noting that his leadership qualities and dedication to youth empowerment would further strengthen unity and development.
The award-winning youth leader said: “As Youth Ambassador, Onokurhefe will inspire and motivate young people to become active participants in shaping their interests and development.”
In his response, Onokurhefe expressed gratitude to Amb. Idahosa and the NYCN for the honour, promising to create platforms that promote innovation, collaboration and empowerment among young Nigerians.
He pledged to champion the cause of Nigerian youths and advocate policies that address their challenges.
He stated that his appointment was a recognition of the immense potential within Nigerian youths, vowing to ensure that those in Gambia are given the support and resources needed to thrive.
“The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Gambia Chapter has demonstrated its commitment to empowering young leaders, and my appointment is a shining example of this effort,” he said.
Onokurhefe, who hails from Ughelli South and Udu local government areas of Delta State, is a civil engineer based in Benin and Gambia.
He has supervised several construction projects across Nigeria, earning a reputation for competence and reliability in service delivery.
