Actress and director Toyin Abraham has scored a major commercial success with her directorial debut Oversabi Aunty, which has become the fourth highest grossing Nollywood title in West Africa after 18 days in cinemas.
Distributor FilmOne announced on Instagram that the film has earned ₦711.5 million at the West African box office, thanking moviegoers for their strong support.
“In just 18 days, Oversabi Aunty grossed N711.5M, making it the 4th highest Nollywood film of all time in West Africa,” the company said.
Oversabi Aunty follows the misadventures of a well meaning but meddlesome aunty whose attempt to fix everyone s problems triggers comic and emotional turns.
The picture opened widely on December 19 after an advance screening on December 18 that helped build early buzz.
The cast mixes established names and rising stars, including Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele and Enioluwa Adeoluwa, whose performances have been credited with broadening the film s appeal.
Toyin Abraham expressed gratitude to fans, calling the milestone deeply emotional and thanking everyone who watched the film.
Observers said the success cements her growing influence in the industry both in front of and behind the camera.
