The Nigeria Immigration Service has disclosed that its Passport Digital Platform will experience temporary disruptions as the agency carries out routine system maintenance.
According to the NIS, the maintenance, scheduled to improve the platform’s efficiency, will run from 12:00 a.m. on December 12 to 6:00 a.m. on December 14, 2025 (GMT).
The notice, issued on Friday and signed by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, was shared on its official X handle.
The statement noted that the exercise is targeted at enhancing system performance and improving the overall user experience.
“The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to inform the general public that it is carrying out routine maintenance on its Passport Digital Platform to enhance system performance and overall user experience.
“During this period, users will experience temporary service interruptions, slow response times, or limited access to selected NIS Passport Services,” the notice read.
The agency appealed for public patience, stressing that the maintenance was essential to sustaining a secure and efficient digital passport system.
“Our technical teams are working round the clock to ensure full service restoration within the stated timeframe,” it added.
The NIS also advised users in need of assistance to reach its support team via email at support@immigration.gov.ng or through its verified social media platforms.
In a related update, the Service announced on Tuesday that it had activated temporary complaint-response channels on social media following the takedown of its earlier support accounts.
It added that applicants encountering challenges with passport or visa applications could now lodge complaints through the temporary X handles @InquireAtNaija, @nigimmigration, and @InquireAtNaija_, as well as via Instagram.
