Three Nigerians killed as truck, SUV collide in Texas

A Nigerian woman, Nihinlolawa Agboro, and two of her children have died following a fatal road accident in Texas, United States.

The crash occurred on Sunday morning along U.S. Highway 90A in Fort Bend County, involving a truck and a sport utility vehicle conveying five passengers.

Officials of the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. after the truck reportedly lost control, crossed the median and slammed into the oncoming SUV.

The impact caused the truck to overturn before going up in flames, with the fire spreading to the other vehicle.

Agboro, alongside her children, Temiloluwa, 18, and Isaac, 22, was confirmed dead at the scene of the accident.

Two other occupants of the SUV, a four-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The truck driver was also hospitalised.

Authorities said investigations were ongoing, noting that alcohol was suspected to have contributed to the crash, while legal action may follow upon conclusion of the probe.
