Tinubu’s wife to preach at Lambeth Palace during UK visit

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is set to deliver a sermon at Lambeth Palace, London, on Thursday as part of activities marking President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to the United Kingdom.

Lambeth Palace, the official residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury, is a key site of the Church of England. During her visit, Mrs Tinubu is also scheduled to meet with church representatives, according to the official itinerary released by AFP.

This visit represents Nigeria’s first state visit to the UK in nearly four decades and is aimed at boosting diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations.

President Tinubu and the First Lady arrived in London on Tuesday, touching down at Stansted Airport ahead of a series of high-level engagements.

The presidential programme includes meetings with King Charles III, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and interactions with the Nigerian diaspora across the United Kingdom.

A devout Christian and ordained pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Mrs Tinubu has in recent years focused on faith-based initiatives and women’s empowerment projects in Nigeria.

Her appearance at Lambeth Palace underscores the blend of faith and diplomacy featured in the Tinubus’ UK visit.
