Transfer talks stalled as Atalanta stick to €50m valuation for Lookman

Negotiations between Inter Milan and Atalanta over the transfer of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman have reportedly hit a roadblock, with Atalanta maintaining a firm €50 million price tag—well above what Inter are prepared to pay.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter resumed discussions with Atalanta on Monday but are unwilling to go beyond €42–43 million.

Meanwhile, Atalanta have made it clear they would prefer to sell the 27-year-old abroad, especially with Spanish side Atletico Madrid recently expressing interest in the player.

Despite the stance from Atalanta, Lookman is said to have already agreed personal terms with Inter and is eager to complete a switch to the San Siro this summer.

Although he has not formally requested a move, sources suggest he may try to push for a transfer if talks continue to stall.

Discussions between the clubs are expected to continue in the days ahead, with Inter hoping to convince Atalanta to reduce their asking price.

The Serie A giants are reportedly keen to bring in Lookman as part of their strategy to reclaim the Scudetto, having narrowly lost out to Napoli last season. The club sees the Nigerian international as a crucial addition capable of elevating their attacking options.

An analysis published by Corriere dello Sport emphasized Lookman’s importance to Inter’s ambitions, highlighting his consistency in Italian football, with 52 goals in 117 appearances over the past three seasons.

“He brings qualities Inter have lacked—strong dribbling, one-on-one ability, and the creativity to unlock defences when a match is tight,” the newspaper noted.

Meanwhile, Napoli are also said to be monitoring Lookman’s situation closely, with a potential move for the Super Eagles star posing a further challenge for Inter should they miss out on signing him.
