The Seattle Storm notched their fifth victory of the 2025 WNBA season on Saturday, defeating the Phoenix Mercury 89–77 on the road.
Skylar Diggins led the scoring charge with 22 points in the second half, but the night also belonged to Nneka Ogwumike and Ezi Magbegor, who both achieved major career milestones.
Ogwumike etched her name further into the WNBA record books by climbing to eighth place on the league’s all-time steals leaderboard.
Her steal early in the first quarter marked the 628th of her career, moving her past Angel McCoughtry.
With just nine more steals, she could surpass Sancho Lyttle and Jia Perkins to secure sixth place on the list.
In Saturday’s matchup, Ogwumike contributed 13 points, six rebounds, six assists, and the milestone steal in 29 minutes of play.
Her teammate, Ezi Magbegor, also reached a new milestone for the franchise.
The forward recorded eight rebounds and three blocks against the Mercury, giving her a total of 273 career blocks—enough to pass Breanna Stewart (271) for second place in Seattle Storm history.
Magbegor, now in her sixth year with the team, still has a long way to go to match franchise leader Lauren Jackson, who holds the top spot with 586 career blocks.
To retain Magbegor’s services, the Storm signed her to a one-year contract extension worth $186,000 during the offseason.
Seattle now holds a 5–4 record and is in a strong position in the Western Conference standings. They’ll face a significant challenge next, taking on the undefeated Minnesota Lynx at home on Wednesday night.
