A United Kingdom-based Nigerian business group, the Nigeria Enterprise Community, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing reforms in the country’s public procurement system, describing them as far-reaching and beneficial to both local and diaspora investors.
The group gave the commendation during the Face of Africa Leadership Honour organised by Triangle International Magazine, where the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Adebowale Adedokun, was named Public Sector Reformer of the Year.
The event was held at King’s College London on Thursday.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the association, Christiana Titus Ayodele, described the award as well deserved, noting that recent reforms in the procurement sector have enhanced transparency and widened access to opportunities.
She said the recognition of the BPP boss underscores the growing importance of procurement in national development, urging Nigerians to acknowledge the Federal Government’s efforts in repositioning key institutions.
Ayodele noted that improvements in the procurement framework have begun to yield global recognition, adding that such progress would attract increased foreign investment and deepen diaspora participation in Nigeria’s economy.
According to her, the reforms have simplified the process for Nigerians abroad to compete for government contracts without reliance on personal connections, thereby promoting fairness and competitiveness.
She added that the honour bestowed on Adedokun reflects increasing international confidence in Nigeria’s public sector reforms.
The association further praised Tinubu’s administration for prioritising transparency and accountability, stressing that the ongoing changes are already restoring investor confidence.
“The President has demonstrated leadership by appointing competent individuals and allowing institutions to function effectively. These reforms are not merely theoretical but are already producing tangible results,” she said.
