A United Kingdom court has sentenced two Nigerian nationals, Fred Akinsanya and Daniel Raji, to a combined 21 years in prison for drugging and raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl.
Inner London Crown Court heard that both men bought the victim drinks at Paddy’s Yard, an Irish pub in Brixton, south London, on February 8, 2025.
The court was told that Akinsanya and Raji subsequently invited the teenager and some of her friends to Raji’s flat, where they were offered cannabis and encouraged to dance.
Although her friends attempted to persuade her to leave with them, she was unable to do so and was later raped and filmed at the flat.
Delivering the sentence, Judge Richards condemned the duo for exploiting the vulnerability of the teenager, noting that the effect of their actions would haunt the victim for life.
“The fact that you two abused her one after the other clearly aggravates the matter. The victim was harmed for a long time,” the judge stated.
Richards further noted that alcohol had been deliberately used to render the victim defenceless, adding that both men took advantage of her incapacitated state to carry out the assault.
The judge described the lasting psychological damage inflicted on the teenager, noting that she had lost her self-confidence and could no longer go out freely.
Akinsanya, 34, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment after being convicted of rape, while Raji, 29, received 11 years upon conviction on two counts of rape and taking an indecent image of a child.
