A United States-based Nigerian woman, Ifunanya Mokwuah, has made new allegations against her uncle, accusing him of attempting to manipulate her ailing father into signing questionable documents while he was hospitalized in America.
Ifunanya recently gained attention after rescuing her father, Peter Mokwuah, from his home in Anambra State, Nigeria, where he had allegedly been held against his will by some family members for nearly a year.
After successfully relocating him to the United States for medical treatment, she is now revealing more details about the family’s alleged attempts to exploit him.
In a post shared on TikTok, Ifunanya claimed that her father’s younger brother, Gabriel, who also lives in the United States, unexpectedly showed up at her father’s hospital room alongside his wife.
The couple reportedly locked the door behind them during the visit, raising suspicions.
Alarmed by the visit, the nursing home staff where her father was recovering contacted Ifunanya.
She immediately rushed to the facility with her mother and brother.
On arrival, they found Gabriel holding a file jacket containing some documents.
Footage captured by Ifunanya showed Gabriel and his wife being escorted out of the nursing home.
In the video, Gabriel is heard hurling an insult at Ifunanya, calling her names, to which she calmly replied, “Thank you for insulting me.”
She also reminded him that she had been granted legal power of attorney over her father, rendering any unauthorized documents void.
After the couple left, Ifunanya said her father revealed that Gabriel had asked him to sign some documents, which he did without understanding their contents.
Despite this, he insisted that he still trusted his brother and was reluctant to believe he had ill intentions.
Ifunanya, however, believes Gabriel is colluding with other family members in Nigeria, whom she accused of previously detaining her father in his own home.
She recalled that while making arrangements to fly her father to the U.S., the American embassy informed her that Gabriel had claimed to possess power of attorney over Peter, an action that initially stalled their efforts.
Responding to a comment online, Ifunanya disclosed that it was her father who brought Gabriel to the United States in the 1980s, expressing disappointment over what she described as betrayal.
“See how he is paying back his brother,” she wrote.
