A Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after warning men living in the United Kingdom against bringing their wives to the country, citing what she described as a high rate of broken marriages among Igbos in the UK.
In a video posted by a user identified as Donpir on X, and sighted by Diaspora NG, the woman said, “90 per cent of the UK marriages that are broken, that are separated today are Igbos… You people have failed us woefully.”
She criticised Igbo men and women for allegedly disgracing themselves on social media platforms, particularly TikTok, through fights and public disputes.
“It’s only Igbo men and women disgracing themselves every time. Disgracing themselves and their family,” she said.
Advising Nigerian men in the diaspora, she said, “If you know you are a Nigerian man living in the UK, the only advice I can give you this early morning is to avoid bringing your wife to the UK… You will let her regret it as a man.”
The woman also extended the caution to women planning to relocate their husbands to the UK.
“You also as a woman planning to bring your husband to the UK, avoid it. Don’t try it,” she warned, while suggesting that Italy is a safer destination for family relocation.
