Visa rejection triggered my biggest breakthrough – US Army Health Specialist, Oyinkansola Alabi

Oyinkansola Alabi also known as The Emotions Doctor, has recounted how a rejected United Kingdom (UK) student visa application in 2015 became her biggest breakthrough.

In a personal post shared on her verified Facebook page and sighted by Diaspora NG, Dr. Alabi, a US Army Behavioral Health specialist and Africa’s first female founder of an Emotional Intelligence Academy, narrated that her application was rejected due to technicality involving the required 28-day seasoning period for her bank funds.

She wrote, “9 years ago, I thought I was on the brink of something big. I had secured admission into a UK university for my Master’s degree. My bags were packed.

“My car in Nigeria, sold. I submitted my bank statement and my admission letter, confident that my visa would be granted.

“But then came the unexpected: Visa rejected. Because my funds hadn’t been in the account for the required 28 business days. I had moved it from my investment account in a bank to a savings account in another bank.

“The money was real. But to them, it wasn’t “seasoned” enough to show proof of ownership. I was told to reapply after 28 business days. But I had already dismantled my entire life. I didn’t just feel rejected, I felt homeless.

“The next day, I drove to Maryland Mall in Ikeja to clear my head. On the way, and even in the parking lot, I kept praying in tongues, asking God for direction.

“I was confused and distraught. And then right as I was about to step out of the car I heard a name:

According to her, the singular moment birthed become a global institution.

Alabi said Emotions City, her brainchild, has since trained over 100,000 professionals across 40 countries and produced 384 certified Emotional Intelligence specialists in 18 nations.

The organization has also created a multi-award-winning documentary and opened international doors for its founder.

“Opened doors that got me a U.S. Green Card in just 6 months. Granted me citizenship in 2 years. And led me to serve as a Behavioral Health Professional in the U.S. Army.”

“What began as rejection has become redemption. That single ‘No’ was God’s way of saying, ‘I have something bigger. Just wait.’ And now? I live a life that no longer needs a visa.”
