Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo is currently in Nigeria following his recent triumph at the FIFA Club World Cup, where Chelsea clinched victory over PSG in an intense final.
Adarabioyo, who was born in London to Nigerian parents, has emerged as a potential addition to the Super Eagles squad.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and head coach Eric Chelle are closely monitoring the centre-back as they prepare for the continuation of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
A decision regarding his international future is expected in the near future, with hopes high that he will choose to represent Nigeria.
Having developed through Manchester City’s youth academy before making a move to Chelsea, Tosin has quickly become a standout performer at Stamford Bridge, earning praise for his calmness on the ball and solid defensive capabilities.
While in Nigeria, Tosin paid a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. During their meeting, the governor commended the player’s achievements and humility, saying it was “always inspiring to meet young Nigerians who excel on the global stage while staying grounded and connected to their roots.”
As part of his visit, the Chelsea star is also giving back to the community.
He has launched the Tosin Adarabioyo Youth Cup, a grassroots football tournament designed to nurture and spotlight emerging talent in Nigeria.
The competition will be held today at 4PM at Onikan Stadium, where Tosin will also interact with fans.
Several youth teams are expected to participate in the event, which aims to offer young players an opportunity to shine and gain valuable exposure.
