Nigerian-Canadian actress laments insecurity, economic hardship in Nigeria

Nigerian-Canadian actress Sunshine Rosman has expressed deep concern over the worsening state of insecurity and economic challenges in the country, describing the situation as both distressing and unacceptable.

The Nollywood star, in an emotional post shared on her social media platform, decried the spate of violent attacks across parts of the nation, particularly in the North, where she said residents have been forced to flee their homes due to fear of attacks.

Rosman questioned the commitment of the nation’s leadership to safeguarding lives and property, noting that the continued loss of innocent lives reflects a troubling reality for citizens.

She lamented that beyond the security crisis, the country is grappling with severe economic hardship, rising poverty levels, and inadequate infrastructure, which have compounded the suffering of the populace.

“We can’t even begin to talk about the economy right now, the poverty rate, the lack of infrastructure in this country. But as if that’s not bad enough, innocent people are being slaughtered,” she said.

The actress further noted that many Nigerians are living in constant fear, with communities being displaced and little assurance of protection from authorities.

She urged citizens not to remain silent, stressing that the growing hardship, insecurity, and widespread suffering in the country must no longer be ignored.
