A 15-year-old boy has been arraigned before the Barkingside Youth Court in the United Kingdom over the alleged murder of 14-year-old Eghosa Ogbebor in Woolwich, London.
The suspect, whose identity was withheld due to legal restrictions, was arrested on Wednesday and charged in connection with the teenager’s death.
According to the Metropolitan Police, officers launched an investigation on April 2 after receiving reports of a shooting on Lord Warwick Street in Woolwich.
The police said operatives arrived at the scene alongside personnel of the London Ambulance Service and found Eghosa with severe injuries.
The victim was, however, confirmed dead at the scene despite efforts to save him.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the police said, “A boy has been charged in connection with the murder of 14-year-old Eghosa Ogbebor in Woolwich.
“Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and located Eghosa with serious injuries. He sadly died at the scene,” the statement added.
The authorities noted that specialist officers were currently supporting the deceased’s family while investigations into the incident continued.
The latest arrest came weeks after a 16-year-old boy from Romford was charged on April 10 over the same murder case and remanded after appearing before the Thames Magistrates’ Court.
Police had also earlier arrested several other suspects, including a 19-year-old man, a 46-year-old man, and three teenagers, in connection with the killing, but they were later released on bail pending further investigations.
