UK-based Nigerian ends marriage over alleged infidelity scandal

A United Kingdom-based Nigerian man identified as Ugo has announced the dissolution of his marriage following allegations that his wife was unfaithful while he worked abroad and financed her education.

The development, which gained traction on social media platform X, sparked widespread reactions after the man publicly accused his estranged wife of infidelity and shared details of their marital crisis online.

According to Ugo, the relationship began with an engagement in January 2023 before the couple got married in December of the same year. They later welcomed a child in 2024 before he relocated his wife to the United Kingdom.

He claimed to have shouldered major financial responsibilities in the marriage, including payment of tuition fees, upkeep expenses, and support during pregnancy and childbirth.

Ugo further disclosed that he bought his wife a car after the birth of their child as a push gift, a gesture that had earlier attracted attention on social media.

However, the marriage reportedly collapsed after allegations emerged that his wife had been involved with another man while he was away in London.

In one of the posts that later circulated online, he accused her of bringing another man into their home despite his sacrifices for the family.

“It’s crazy you’re in my house sleeping with another man while I’m in London working hard to pay your school fees in pounds. Divorce finalised,” he reportedly wrote.

He also alleged that some members of his wife’s family failed to condemn the alleged act and instead continued demanding financial support from him.

“Her family didn’t see anything wrong with it but still asked me about her tuition,” he added.

The controversy generated mixed reactions online, with some users sympathising with the man while others criticised his decision to make details of the marital dispute public.

In a follow-up post, Ugo confirmed that the marriage had officially ended.

“Divorce is finalised. It’s ex-wife now,” he wrote.

He also shared what appeared to be a notification from the UK HM Courts and Tribunals Service confirming that a final divorce order had been granted.
