Nigerian student shines in U.S, Gov Radda cheers

Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has congratulated Halima Sa’adu, a student of Sarki Umar Faruq Umar Secondary School, Daura, for her exceptional performance during an academic exchange programme in the United States.

The governor, in a statement issued on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula, described the achievement as a proud moment for Katsina State and a testament to the potential of young people when given access to quality education and opportunities.

Radda said Sa’adu distinguished herself while representing Nigeria in the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Programme, a prestigious international initiative that promotes academic excellence, leadership development and cultural exchange.

According to the governor, the student excelled during her one-year stay at Sylvan Hills High School in Arkansas, where she emerged as the best-performing student for January 2026.

He added that she also received certificates of proficiency in both English and Hausa, highlighting her academic strength and commitment to promoting her cultural heritage.

“Her accomplishment reflects the immense potential of Katsina youths and demonstrates what can be achieved through dedication, quality education and proper mentorship,” the governor said.

Radda noted that Sa’adu was among only seven Nigerian students selected for the programme, adding that her success further justified his administration’s sustained investment in the education sector.

The governor also commended the state Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for supporting students to compete globally and congratulated Sa’adu, her family, teachers and the school community, expressing confidence that her achievement would inspire other students across the state.
