The Embassy of Ireland in Nigeria has announced the commencement of applications for the 2026 Ireland Fellows Programme, offering qualified Nigerians the opportunity to pursue fully funded Master’s degree programmes at leading Irish universities.

In a statement shared on its official X handle on Friday, the embassy disclosed that applications will open on June 29 for eligible early and mid-career professionals from Nigeria and Ghana.

According to the embassy, the fellowship provides successful candidates with the opportunity to undertake a one-year postgraduate programme in Ireland, with major academic and living expenses fully covered.

“Applications for the Ireland Fellows Programme open on June 29, 2026. Apply for the opportunity to study in Ireland on a fully funded Master’s scholarship,” the statement read.

The embassy urged prospective applicants to consult the official Ireland Fellows Programme portal for detailed information on eligibility criteria and the application process.

To qualify, applicants must be citizens and residents of either Nigeria or Ghana, possess a minimum of a Second Class Lower Bachelor’s degree and have at least three years of relevant professional work experience.

For Nigerian applicants, the programme also includes the Roger Casement Fellowship in Human Rights, which supports postgraduate studies in Law, Human Rights and Governance.

Successful candidates will receive a comprehensive scholarship package covering tuition fees, monthly stipends, accommodation, visa and travel costs, as well as health insurance throughout the duration of their studies.

The embassy said applications would close on July 26, 2026, and encouraged interested candidates to submit their entries before the deadline through the official Ireland Fellows Programme portal.

The Ireland Fellows Programme is designed to strengthen leadership capacity by supporting professionals from eligible countries to acquire advanced knowledge and skills while studying in Ireland.
