Arteta promotes three Nigerian teenagers to Arsenal first-team training

Manager Mikel Arteta invited three teenagers of Nigerian descent to train with the first team of Arsenal FC ahead of their FA Cup fifth-round clash against Mansfield Town.

The young players took part in Friday’s training session at the club’s Sobha Realty Training Centre in London Colney as preparations intensified for the trip to Field Mill.

According to Arsenal youth football analyst Jeorge Bird, schoolboys Mishel Nduka and Emerson Nwaneri, the younger brother of Ethan Nwaneri, were involved in the training session with the senior squad.

Reports also confirmed that forward Andre Harriman-Annous joined the first-team group during the workout as the Gunners concluded preparations for the FA Cup encounter.

Harriman-Annous has regularly trained with the senior team this season, although he remains part of Arsenal’s development squad.

The Hale End Academy graduate has already received four senior call-ups, including matches against Slavia Prague in the UEFA Champions League, as well as league games against Liverpool FC and Sunderland AFC.

He was also included in the squad for a Carabao Cup fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion FC.

Emerson Nwaneri and Nduka are currently in the final year of their schoolboy contracts at Arsenal and are expected to be part of the club’s new intake of scholars for the 2026–2027 season.

Ethan Nwaneri, Emerson’s elder brother, made history as the youngest player to appear in the English top flight when he debuted for Arsenal at just 15 years and 181 days.

Emerson, who is currently 15 years and 201 days old, cannot break that record but is regarded as another promising talent emerging from the club’s renowned Hale End Academy.
