Confirmed: Talented striker of Nigerian descent signs new contract with West Ham United

Talented striker of Nigerian descent, Josh Ajala, has committed his future to West Ham United after signing a new long-term contract with the Premier League club.

The London side confirmed on Friday that the youngster had agreed to a fresh deal that will keep him at the club’s London Stadium until the end of the 2027–2028 season.

Earlier in the year, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano had reported that the forward was attracting interest from clubs in France and Germany ahead of the summer transfer window as his previous contract approached expiration.

However, the club announced that Ajala had opted to extend his stay, formally signing the new agreement at the team’s Rush Green Training Ground in the presence of his Nigerian parents.

Ajala began his football development at the academy of Chelsea FC before joining West Ham as a first-year scholar in 2023, later signing his first professional contract on his 17th birthday.

The young striker quickly impressed in the club’s youth setup, scoring 19 goals during his debut season for the U18 side, which finished second in the U18 Premier League.

He has also established himself as the leading scorer for West Ham’s development squad over the last two seasons, highlighting his growing reputation as one of the club’s promising prospects.

Ajala earned his first senior team call-up in January for an FA Cup fixture against Burton Albion, although he did not feature in the match.

At international level, the forward who shares an agent with Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina and Terem Moffi made his debut for England U20 National Team in November 2025.
