ICE arrests Nigerian over prior child molestation conviction in US

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested a 53-year-old Nigerian national, Olatunde Olusanjo, in Los Angeles over previous convictions related to sexual offences, including child molestation.

The agency’s Enforcement and Removal Operations unit in Los Angeles disclosed the arrest in a statement posted on its official X handle on Friday, noting that the suspect was taken into custody on April 21.

According to ICE, Olusanjo has a criminal history involving child molestation, sexual battery and solicitation of lewd conduct, adding that he is currently in custody pending removal proceedings.

A video released by the agency showed the suspect in handcuffs being escorted from an ICE vehicle into a detention facility.

In the footage, a narrator described him as a “convicted sex offender,” confirming his Nigerian nationality and detailing his prior offences.

Authorities said the suspect would remain in custody as immigration processes towards his deportation continue.
