Nigeria-eligible forward Chido Obi delivered an outstanding performance on Monday night, scoring four goals to inspire Manchester United U21 to a commanding 4-1 victory over Leicester City U21 in a Premier League 2 clash.
The Denmark U21 international of Nigerian descent produced a clinical display in the encounter played under difficult Midlands conditions, emerging as the decisive figure for the visitors.
Obi opened the scoring in the 37th minute before restoring Manchester United’s lead just before half-time, shortly after Lorenz Hutchinson had equalised for Leicester City.
The 18-year-old striker completed his remarkable outing with two late goals, sealing an emphatic away win that strengthened Manchester United’s position at the top of the Premier League 2 table with 33 points, two ahead of Chelsea U21.
Born in Glostrup, Denmark, Obi previously passed through Arsenal’s youth system and is managed by Elite Project Group, an agency led by Emeka Obasi, who also represents Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi, Terem Moffi, Josh Maja, Joe Aribo and Ola Aina.
Following his four-goal haul, the Danish-Nigerian centre-forward has now scored 14 goals across competitions this season, including nine in Premier League 2, two in the FA Youth Cup and additional strikes in the EFL Trophy, National League Cup and the U18 Premier League.
Despite making eight senior appearances for Manchester United, Obi has not featured for the club’s first team since the final day of the 2024/2025 campaign.
