President Bola Tinubu has praised Nigerian-American basketball player, Ejimofor Anosike, for his remarkable exploits in the 2026 National Basketball League Championship in China.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Anosike, who plays for the Hong Kong Bulls, delivered an outstanding performance to guide his team to emerge champions of the league.
The power forward also swept multiple individual honours, clinching the Finals Most Valuable Player award, Best International Player accolade, as well as the Slam Dunk Contest title.
Tinubu described the player’s achievements as a reflection of his exceptional ability, discipline and determination, noting that his success had brought pride to the nation.
He added that Anosike’s rise on the global stage would serve as a source of inspiration to young athletes across Nigeria and the African continent.
“Anosike’s accomplishments reflect the growing global impact of Nigerians in sports and underscore the importance of continued investment in youth development and sporting excellence,” the President said.
He further commended the basketball star for maintaining a strong sense of patriotism despite his international success, particularly through his commitment to Nigeria’s national team, D’Tigers.
Tinubu wished Anosike continued progress in his career, expressing optimism that he would achieve even greater milestones in the years ahead.
