Nigerian pilgrim dies during Hajj movement in Saudi Arabia

A Nigerian pilgrim participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise has reportedly died in Muzdalifah, Saudi Arabia, during the spiritual rites of the pilgrimage.

The deceased, said to be a native of Bauchi State, reportedly slumped and died in the early hours of Wednesday shortly after arriving in Muzdalifah from Arafat.

The incident was said to have occurred during the overnight movement of pilgrims between the two holy sites, one of the most physically demanding stages of the Hajj exercise.

According to reports, Saudi Arabian security operatives and emergency medical personnel quickly responded to the situation and evacuated the body from the scene.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that the deceased was wheeled away by emergency responders accompanied by security officials, while two members of the Bauchi State pilgrims delegation were seen following the evacuation team.

Although the identity of the pilgrim had yet to be officially disclosed as of the time of filing this report, authorities were also yet to determine the exact cause of death.

The Hajj pilgrimage usually involves rigorous religious activities, including long hours of trekking and movement between holy locations under intense weather conditions and overcrowded environments.
